You can earn part of Google's revenue with AdSense. Google allows webmasters to advertise on the search result pages. Google earns most of it's money through this method. In other words Google helps people advertise, so if you advertise the same thing, you're helping Google help people. As a reward you get part of the money they earn, that's called a commission. This is what AdSense is all about.

So you receive a commission per click on the ad which is part of Google's commission. Generally advertisers pay more for keywords with lots of searches. It can range from less than 2 cents to more than $10 per click.

Obviously people first try to rank on highly paid keywords, so they become high competition. The logic is that lots of people are trying to rank high on those keywords because they are widely searched on the web. So they are willing to pay more money to have their ads instead of someone else's.

While Google doesn't tell you how much money each click makes for you it's easy to find out yourself. Let's say you have a Wednesday with 5 clicks and $7 earning. That makes your average commission $1.40 per click. You won't be able to get more detailed than that but then again, you won't need to.

The total amount depends on many things such as total traffic you have on your website, how targeted the traffic is, where you place your ads, how well they match what the people need, etc. That's about optimizing so you get better earnings, for starters you need to get going.

So let's take a look at what your new website needs to be.

First of all choose some topic you feel you know a lot about, or that you would like to know a lot about. Either you don't need to do any research on the subject, or you would enjoy doing the research. This simplifies everything for you. If you want lots of money you need lots of content.

Now register a domain name, get yourself a web host and start building those pages. Now you need an editor software like Dreamweaver. Now all you have to do is get accepted into Google's adsense program, so go apply. You will need at least 10-15 pages of content to get accepted into the program. Now it's a matter of waiting to get accepted and pasting the resulting HTML code into your pages.
